Port Talbot Town Manager Mark Pike has been busy again with the recent acquisition of Owen Williams from neighbours Afan Lido. Williams is a former player of Pike’s successful academy, youth squads and returns to PTT in to the senior set up.
Speaking to porttalbottown.co.uk about the recent signing, Pike was already looking forward to working with him once again;
“Owen will bring much needed experience to the squad as we continue to look at building a squad and club that is sustainable in the long term. In recent weeks we have brought in experienced players and we look to continue that going forward and in to the new year.”
When questioned about squad size Pike is happy with the numbers available and looking to create a bit of competition. He added;
“Currently we do have quite a large squad growing here and I want to reassure everybody that there will be no departures within the group. I’m looking to create a competitive edge to us internally and hopefully with that a little change in luck. To date it’s been so close but it’s that final decision in the final third’s that let us down. It’s time the hard work put in off the field converts the misfortunes in to positives for the football club.”
Port Talbot Town have three big home games in the Welsh football league coming up at Victoria Road and it starts this Saturday when Cwmbran Celtic come to town. Kick off for this one is 2:00pm.
