The Blues finished up their pre-season round of games this past Wednesday with a victory over Baglan Dragons. This followed a Friday night defeat by Welsh League Cup winners Trefelin BGC at Ynys Park.
Trefelin BGC 5 – 2 Port Talbot Town
The home side took full advantage of a strong start with goals from Ceri Williams and Josh Webber early on. The 2-0 lead was enhanced by an invididual effort from Ceri Williams once again and a Damon Thomas penalty to give Trefelin a 4-0 lead. Some fine skill from Kieran Miller to beat the Trefelin centre back resulted in what looked to be a consolation goal even this early in to the game for Port Talbot as the half time score read 4-1 to the Reds.
Williams completed his hat-tricket later on in the second half picking up Trefelin’s fifth and final goal. Keane Watts managed to pick up another consolation goal for PTT in what was turning out to be an excellent pre-season for the young winger.
Port Talbot Town 1 – 0 Baglan Dragons
Port Talbot found themselves back at Tata Steel FC to finish up the pre-season proceedings. There was not much of note in the first half with both sides creating very little of concern for both men between the sticks. As the second half went on, Port Talbot looked the more confident side with an array of opportunities testing and the Baglan woodwork being struck on more than one occasion. It came down to Morgan Thomas to break the deadlock around the hour mark however.
Kieran Miller collected the ball in the centre of midfield and knocked it out wide to Thomas who made light work of the full back. Thomas went on to slot the ball past the Baglan keeper from an acute angle in what proved to be enough in the end to give Port Talbot another victory before going in to the upcoming Welsh League Campaign.
