Paul Evans’ Blues finished the weekend sitting 4th in the Division One table following a 1-0 win at Taffs Well. Port Talbot went into the fixture sitting 6th in the league, with their opponents sitting 8th.
The deadlock was broken just three minutes into the game at the Rhiw Dda’r Stadium. A misplaced pass for the Wellmen saw Luke Bowen take advantage, clipping an effort past the dive of the home keeper.
Taffs Well responded aggressively, but good defending from Evans’ men saw them hold the tie at 1-0 come the half-time break.
A foul in the Taffs Well area just after the half-time restart saw the referee point to the penalty spot. The home side saved the penalty kick followed by another save of a shot on the rebound.
The Blues came close to doubling their lead on a number of occasions following the penalty, but a strong showing from the home side saw the fixture end 1-0 come full-time.
