Port Talbot Town’s seven game unbeaten streak came to an end on Saturday afternoon following a 3-2 loss at home to 2nd placed Goytre.
The Blues took an early lead in the 8th minute when a ball over the top of the Goytre defence found the run of Luke Bowen, who slotted it past the visiting keeper.
The visitors equalised on 23rd minutes with a McDonalds tap-in proving too much for Rory McCreesh in the Port Talbot goalmouth.
Paul Evans’ men were unlucky not to have had a penalty awarded in their favour just minutes later after Belle was taken down in the Goytre area.
Goytre found themselves 2-1 ahead on the hour mark. Sommers successfully brought down a high-ball to his feet before holding off his man and putting it away from 20 yards out.
Port Talbot equalised after the break with a corner kicking allowing for Rhys Owen to head it into the back of the net.
Goytre made it 3-2 on 67 minutes when a ball over the top landed at the feet of MacDonald, who’s chip evaded McCreesh who appeared to have been fouled in the area just seconds earlier.
The defeat sees the Blues retain their 6th place in the Division One rankings, while Goytre leapfrog Llanelli Town to go 2nd.
Port Talbot XI: Rory McCreesh; Craig Jones, Aaron Bidderscombe, Lewis Holmes, Rhys Owen; Owain Williams, Jonathan Hood, Adam Jenkins; Cortez Belle, Luke Bowen (C), Jack Hurley.
