NEW SIGNINGS: Five Join Mark Pike’s Side This Week

Port Talbot Town Football Club are delighted to announce five new additions at Victoria Road this week.

Striker Tom Neville comes on board signing from JD Championship South side Cwmbran Celtic.

“Tom is an energetic forward who will bolster the current strike force,” said manager Mark Pike. “Tom comes with a wealth of experience playing in the Championship this year and also gaining valuable experience in the Welsh League system. At 22-years-old, he will fit right into this young squad.”

Nico Watkins, another striker, signs from divisional rivals and tomorrow’s opponents Ton Pentre after playing for Port Talbot Town’s youth team last season.

“He’s a powerful left-footed striker and we look forward to developing his game further in his time here at Port Talbot. I’m delighted to have him on board,” said the gaffer.

Goalkeeper Daniel James re-signs for the club after being a product of the academy system following spells at Afan Lido and Baglan Dragons.

“Daniel is a valuable signing and experienced goalkeeper and certainly a player we require alongside James Harris between the posts,” said Pike. “At 25-years-old, he will be a great asset to the club.”

Wyn Walters re-joins Port Talbot Town as goalkeeping coach following recent spells at the club and an appearance in the recent 1-1 home draw with Ton Pentre. Wyn will work with the senior goalkeepers at the club and now becomes a member of the management team.

Defender Matthew Beynon is also back at the club following an extended holiday and he made his first appearance last weekend in the 4-3 FAW Trophy victory over Gorseinion Athletic.

Mark Pike welcomed this addition, describing Beynon as “a centre back with great experience and a commanding knowledge of the game. It will be great to have him available on a regular basis and will strengthen our defence.”

“All of the players will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s League Cup match at Ton Pentre and I am very excited to be working with them. They will all bolster the squad and add much-needed experience of senior game time.”

You can see the new players in action for Port Talbot Town tomorrow (21 September) as the Blues travel to Ynys Park to take on Ton Pentre in the 2ndround of the Nathaniel Car Sales League Cup. Kick-off for that one is at the slightly earlier time of 2pm.
