Port Talbot Town Football Club are pleased to confirm that defender Darius Waters has joined the club ahead of the 2020/21 JD Cymru South campaign, signing from Briton Ferry.
Darius is no stranger to the club and manager Mark Pike, having been a part of the club’s youth team under the current gaffer. He was part of the successful era for our youth side under Pike where a number of players broke through into the senior setup.
Waters joins from divisional and local rivals Briton Ferry, but has past experience in the youth sides of Manchester City, Blackburn Rovers, Wigan Athletic and Cardiff City. He has also previously played for Goytre United.
“I am delighted to be back playing for Port Talbot Town as I was there as part of the youth team,” Darius says on joining the Blues. “It is a great feeling to be back playing under Pikey and I can’t wait for the new season to start.”
Mark Pike is equally as pleased with the new signing, stating: “I am delighted to announce that Darius is back in blue. I have seen him grow through his journey since being a young lad at Cardiff City.”
“He has great technical abilities and a physical presence. He has been a targeted player by many clubs in recent months and he comes into a great squad of players,” adds Pike. “I am very confident that he will quickly settle once we start up again and I can’t wait to get this squad back onto the grass once it is safe to do so.”
