MATCH RECAP: Cardiff Met. Ladies 5-0 Port Talbot Town Ladies: Archers On Target for WPWL Title

Cardiff Metropolitan University Ladies have one hand on the Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League title after a 5-0 win this past Sunday over Port Talbot Town Ladies

The victory extends the Archers’ lead over PTT at the top to thirteen points, meaning with three games to play Hayley Williams’ side can no longer catch the leaders.

The only side that can now catch them are Swansea City, who they play next weekend at Llandarcy, but a point in that game for Kerry Harris’ side will clinch yet another League title.

Five different scorers saw the Met home to a twelfth win of the season, increasing their unbeaten domestic run in the process to eighteen matches.

Alice Griffiths opened the scoring for Met in the twelfth minute, smashing home a thirty-yard effort off the underside of the crossbar into the net.

Four minutes later it was two, Naomi Clipston getting the goal, before Madison Schupbach slotted into the corner of the goal for the third just before the break.

Ellie Walker-Smith netted on the hour mark to make it four and Liv Thompson’s strike two minutes from time rounded off another perfect afternoon for the Archers.

Port Talbot Town will still be looking to keep up their terrific form in the league this season but will have to wait until the end of the month when they take on their Cardiff City counterparts at Victoria Road (Sunday 31st March)

As always, entry to this game will be free of charge!
