MATCH PREVIEW: Trefelin v Port Talbot Town

Port Talbot Town will begin their Welsh Cup campaign in the 2nd qualifying round with a local derby against divisional rivals Trefelin tomorrow (28 September).

This will already be the second meeting between the sides this season, following a 1-1 draw at Victoria Road last month in Division One of the Welsh Football League.

Conor Harris put the Blues ahead that day, but former Steelman Joseph Jones equalised to give the visitors a share of the points.

Both teams have enjoyed a good start to the season, amassing eight points from four games (W2 D2) to remain unbeaten. Both sides have only tasted defeat in the Nathaniel Car Sales League Cup, with Trefelin being dumped out in the first round 2-1 at home to Abergavenny Town, whilst Port Talbot were eliminated on penalties at Ton Pentre last week following a 1-1 draw.

Jack Underwood is available to return to the squad after missing the last three matches through suspension after his sending off in the 3-0 League Cup victory at West End. Daniel James and Tom Neville will look to increase their minutes in a Blues shirt, with Nico Watkins also in line for his debut after signing last week.

A large crowd is expected for what should be a great cup tie, but if you are unable to attend then the club’s social media will have all of your match updates. Kick-off at Ynys Park (SA12 8RF) is 2.30pm.
