MATCH PREVIEW: Garden Village vs Port Talbot Town

Port Talbot Town return to Welsh League Division One action tomorrow (5 October) as they travel to Stafford Common to take on Garden Village. This will be the Blues’ first away fixture in the league this season and they will be looking to bounce back from consecutive cup defeats to Ton Pentre and Trefelin in recent weeks.

Garden Village currently sit in 14th place in the WFL1 table after picking up five points in five games, with their solitary victory coming in their last league game with a 2-1 victory at Dinas Powys. They followed that up with a comfortable 4-0 away victory at Fairwater in the Welsh Cup last week.

Port Talbot Town will look to build on an unbeaten start by adding some away points to the eight already picked up at Victoria Road this season with victories over Monmouth Town and Aberbargoed Buds going alongside 1-1 draws with Trefelin and Ton Pentre.

(Big) Ryan Morgan is eligible again after serving his suspension in last week’s Welsh Cup defeat at Trefelin for his red card at Ton Pentre in the League Cup the week prior. Morgan Thomas will again be missing and it remains to be seen whether Nico Watkins will be available after he was forced off in his debut last week due to injury.

This will be the first meeting between the sides since the pre-season of 2015, where the Steelmen, then in the Welsh Premier League, ran out 6-0 winners.

For those fans making the short trip, Stafford Common can be found at SA4 3AB. But if you are unable to follow the Blues away, be sure to keep an eye on the club’s official social media for all of your live match updates. Kick off is 2.30pm.
