Port Talbot Town Football Club are thrilled to confirm that current manager Mark Pike has agreed to remain at the helm and lead the club into the JD Cymru South for season 2020/21.
The Blues have enjoyed continued success since Mark Pike took charge of the team over the summer of 2018, achieving mathematical safety in Welsh Football League Division against all of the odds, with the lowest playing budget in the division after rebuilding the club from scratch with largely local players.
Unfortunately, off the field issues resulted in a demotion to the third tier, but under Pike’s guidance Port Talbot Town achieved promotion to the JD Cymru South at the first time of asking following a third place finish last season. The gaffer has been instrumental in making the club sustainable and has built a togetherness at the club between players, management and supporters alike.
Speaking of his commitment to take the club back into the second tier of Welsh football, Pike says “I am really excited to continue working with this fantastic club.”
“Being a player, coach, youth development and senior coach, and now manager of this club makes me proud of what we have achieved,” adds Pike. “I am hopeful that with this group of players we can achieve anything. With a bit of belief, anything is possible.”
Port Talbot Town are also pleased to announce that Morrys Scott, David Morgan and Amir Joubara will continue in their roles as part of Mark Pike’s coaching staff, alongside Ryan Morgan as player-coach and new addition Matthew Clement.
The club are also pleased to announce that Tiegan Embling-Jones will be part of the backroom staff, taking full control of sports therapy as the club looks to build on its coaching and management structure.
“We have got a great management team who are fully committed to my beliefs,” says Pike on his coaching staff. “We challenge one another which just adds to what we want to achieve and I am excited to start working with the staff, players, all of those behind the scenes and hope to give something back to our long-standing and committed supporters whilst giving them more to sing about.”
The club will be making further announcements in due course regarding player retention and new signings.
