Competitive Football Returns To Victoria Road

Following the Football Association of Wales’ recent Tier 1 announcement, competitive football is set to return to Victoria Road in September (subject to FAW site visit)

The Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League will commence on September 27th with clubs in the division now permitted to take part in friendly matches in the built up to the league’s return.

Port Talbot Town’s Ladies take on their Briton Ferry Llansawel counterparts on Sunday 6th September behind closed doors at home and hit the road on consecutive Sundays as the squad travel to Aberystwyth and Cardiff Metropolitan University to complete the friendly program.

First team ladies manager Hayley Williams struggled to contain her excitement as she spoke to porttalbottown.co.uk about the recent announcement;

“I’m excited that competitive football matches have been given the go ahead to return at the top level of the female game in Wales

I know the FAW have been working hard to ensure the safe return of the game and we appreciate their efforts. Our players are buzzing to get back out on the pitch and get the 2020/21 season underway and we anxiously await the fixtures being released.

Until then, we have three competitive friendlies lined up and these will stand us in good stead for the season ahead”
