Cambrian & Clydach 1-0 Port Talbot: Blues denied any points in the Rhondda valley

Port Talbot Town picked up their fifth defeat of the season on the road at Cambrian & Clydach on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues went into the fixture sitting 5th in the league, with Cambrian sat in mid-table – a good feat considering the poor start they suffered at the start of the season.

A strong Port Talbot squad made the trip, with the likes of Jonathan Hood, Anthony Rawlings, Adam Jenkins, Craig Jones and Rory McCreesh starting. Luke Bowen and Cortez Belle didn’t make the trip to the Rhondda valley for this one.

The majority of the fixture remained an even affair. The Blues came close to taking the lead on a number of occasions, with the most notable effort coming from Jonathan Hood who managed to break past the Cambrian defence before firing a shot into the hands of the home keeper.

Cambrian secured the only goal of the fixture when a deflection off Rhys Owen saw the Blues defender score an own-goal.

The home side did well to keep onto their lead following the goal – seeing the game out to secure their 6th win of the campaign.

Evans’ Blues are back in action on Saturday, November 25th when they welcome Penybont to Victoria Road.
