The Port Talbot derby returns on December 10th when Paul Evans’ Blues visit Afan Lido for a huge Division One fixture.

Lido will be entering this clash confident they can pick up a win over their rivals, they’ve enjoyed an impressive run of results over the last few months, which has seen them propel up the league table to 2nd place.

The Port Talbot Town fans who will undoubtedly be out in force at the Marston’s Stadium on Saturday, will have vivid memories of the Blues’ huge 6-1 win over their rivals on December 29th 2012.

A number of players who later went on to feature for the Blues were present, Anthony Rawlings and now Port Talbot manager Paul Evans featured in Lido’s line-up for this fixture, with former-Blue Chris Hartland also making an appearance.

Lewis Harling started the scoring for the Blues on 9 minutes. Lido equalised on 17 minutes, with a Mark Jones effort evading Craig Richards in the Port Talbot goalmouth.

David Brooks put the Steelmen back in front after 26 minutes,  the remainder of the first-half saw the Blues dominate for the most part. Now-Port Talbot manager and then-Lido defender Paul Evans was handed a red card after 54 minutes, with Brooks scoring again a minute later to make it 3-1 in Port Talbot’s favour.

Matty Crowell scored a fourth on 61 minutes, with late goals from Ryan Green and Leigh De-Vulgt in the 91st and 93rd minutes securing a mammoth victory for a Port Talbot side that were eager to recreate the success they experienced in the 2010/2011 season.
