Afan Lido 0-3 Port Talbot Town – Marston’s Stadium
Kick off: 2.30pm – Date: Saturday, January 12th 2014 – Attendance: 373
The Port Talbot derby returns on December 10th when Paul Evans’ Blues visit Afan Lido for a huge Division One fixture.
Lido will be entering this clash confident they can pick up a win over their rivals, they’ve enjoyed an impressive run of results over the last few months, which has seen them propel up the league table to 2nd place.
The Blues fans, who will be out in force come Saturday afternoon, will be looking for a repeat of their impressive 3-0 Welsh Premier League win over their rivals in January 2014.
Managed by Scott Young, who is now assistant manager at Cardiff City, the Blues travelled to the Marston’s Stadium with the aim of cementing their place in the Europa League qualification spots come the end of the season. Afan Lido however had a different battle on their hands, after a string of rocky results in the league.
Sacha Walters opened the scoring for the Blues after 21 minutes, with a great strike from 30-yards out evading the reach of Craig Richards in the Lido goalmouth.
A Dean Hudson foul just within the penalty area saw referee Mark Whitby point to the spot, Rhys Griffiths stepped up and converted it with ease, making the score 2-0 in the Blues’ favour going into the half-time break.
Port Talbot’s derby win was secured on 72 minutes, with a Martin Rose effort hitting the back of the Lido net.
Kick off at Afan Lido’s Marston’s Stadium on Saturday, December 10th is 2pm. Entry for Adults will be £5. Come on down and support the Blues in the biggest match of their season so far!
